Deep Dive into BYD ATTO 1 - Small EV with 74 HP, 380 km Range, Comparing Both Trims

เริ่ม 4.29 แสน เจาะลึก BYD ATTO 1 ไฟฟ้าน้องเล็ก 74 ม้า วิ่งไกล 380 โลต่อชาร์จ พร้อมเจาะ 2 รุ่นย่อย

The BYD Atto 1 surprised me with its interior space despite its tiny footprint. It's a well-packaged city EV that should appeal to anyone wanting a compact, easy-to-park electric car for daily errands.

First Impressions

Walking up to the BYD Atto 1 for the first time, it's clearly a small car. The proportions scream city runabout, somewhere in the K-car spirit but with BYD's own design language. What caught me off guard was how aggressive it looks from certain angles — those dual-line daytime running lights and the sharp hood lines genuinely remind me of a baby Lamborghini from the front. It's a fun little thing to look at, especially in the green color on display.

Design and Exterior

The exterior is compact at just under 3,925 mm long, but BYD has done a nice job adding visual interest. The body-colored bumper elements, shark fin antenna, and integrated rear spoiler give it a sportier vibe than you'd expect. The LED light bar connecting the taillights adds a modern touch.

Wheel size is 16 inches with 185/55 tires, and I was genuinely pleased to see disc brakes on all four corners — that's not always a given in this segment. The charging port sits on the front right fender, which is convenient for the driver's side. One notable omission: there's no rear wiper, which could be annoying during the rainy season.

Interior and Tech

Step inside and this is where the Atto 1 genuinely surprised me. Despite looking small from outside, the cabin feels airy and well-managed in terms of space. The dashboard and center console share DNA with the Atto 3, which is a smart move — the layout feels familiar and functional. The 10.1-inch touchscreen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it's the same size on both trims.

Materials are honest for the segment. There's plastic trim up top with some soft-touch fabric lower down. The center console has a two-tier design with USB-A, USB-C, and a MicroSD slot tucked underneath. The four-speaker audio system is basic but adequate. One disappointment: no auto-dimming rearview mirror on any trim, and no 360-degree camera — just a single reverse camera. The image quality is decent though.

Rear Seat and Practicality

Here's where I was most impressed. I sat in the back after setting the front seat to my driving position, and there's genuinely usable space. Headroom is about a fist's clearance thanks to the raised roofline, and the flat floor means you can actually shuffle your feet around. I'd comfortably recommend this for two rear passengers — three would be a squeeze.

The rear seats fold completely flat as a single piece, so there's no 60/40 split. That's a compromise, but the resulting cargo area is usable. The fold isn't perfectly flush with the boot floor, leaving a small step, but it's workable. ISOFIX mounts are present, and there are rear side airbags on the Premium trim. No rear air vents though — you'll need to crank the front AC.

Trim Differences

The two trims — Dynamic and Premium — differ in meaningful ways. The Premium gets a four-way adjustable steering wheel versus two-way, an electric six-way driver's seat, wireless charging, and crucially, the full ADAS suite including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and intelligent high beam control. The base trim gets none of that ADAS tech.

The battery is also different: the Dynamic runs a smaller pack giving a claimed range of 300 km, while the Premium bumps up to 380 km. DC fast charging capability also jumps from 30 kW to 40 kW on the Premium. Real-world range will likely be lower, but the bigger battery provides a meaningful comfort margin.

Final Verdict

The BYD Atto 1 is a well-thought-out city EV that makes smart use of its compact dimensions. The interior space genuinely defies its exterior size, and the Blade Battery technology adds peace of mind on safety. I haven't had the chance to drive it yet, so the ride and handling remain question marks.

If you're looking for an approachable electric car for daily city duties — commuting, school runs, market trips — this deserves a serious look. Just make sure you opt for the Premium trim, because the base model loses too many features that make this car feel complete.

Pros

  • Interior space is surprisingly roomy for its size
  • Disc brakes on all four wheels
  • BYD Blade Battery offers strong safety credentials
  • Flat rear floor improves passenger comfort
  • Compact turning radius makes city driving easy
  • ADAS suite available on the Premium trim
  • Wireless charging included on top trim
  • ISOFIX child seat anchors in the rear

Cons

  • No 360-degree camera on either trim
  • Rear seats only fold flat as one piece, no 60/40 split
  • No rear air vents
  • No auto-dimming rearview mirror on any trim
  • No panoramic sunroof on any variant
  • Base trim lacks ADAS features entirely
  • Rear wiper not included
  • Console area feels a bit cramped

Verdict

6.8/10

The BYD Atto 1 is a charming little city EV that punches above its weight in interior space and safety features. It's ideal for urban commuters and families needing a compact second car, though you'll want the Premium trim for the full experience.
