Review: BYD M6 Refreshed Family Car, 6 Seats, 530 km Range
รีวิว BYD M6 ปรับโฉมรถพ่อบ้าน 6 ที่นั่ง ขับไกล 530 กม. เปิดราคา 829,900 บาท #BTbeartai
The BYD M6 is a solid family EV with a practical 6-seat layout and genuine long-range capability. The ride is firm and Eco mode feels sluggish, but Sport mode livens things up enough for daily driving.
First Impressions
The BYD M6 positions itself squarely as the family man's EV. Six seats, long range, and a straightforward proposition. I spent time with the Extended Range variant, which packs a bigger battery for a claimed 530 km of range. On paper, that's impressive for a vehicle in this class.
Interior & Seating
The second row gets captain seats with electric adjustment, which immediately gives the cabin a more premium feel than your typical MPV. These are genuinely comfortable chairs, and the captain seat setup makes getting in and out of the third row much easier.
The third row is where things get interesting. Adults can actually sit back there, which isn't something you can say about every 6-seater in this segment. The trade-off, predictably, is cargo space. With the third row up, the boot shrinks considerably, so you'll need to plan ahead if you're travelling with a full load of passengers and luggage.
Driving Experience
Let me get straight to it: the suspension is firm. Noticeably so. For a car that's marketed as a family cruiser, I expected a softer, more absorbent ride. Over bumps and uneven surfaces, you feel more than you'd like.
Eco mode is a test of patience. It feels genuinely sluggish, almost to the point where merging onto a highway requires some forward planning. Switch to Sport mode and the M6 wakes up nicely. It's not going to pin you back in your seat, but there's enough urgency to keep up with traffic confidently. For daily family duties, Sport mode is where I'd leave it most of the time.
Real-world energy consumption came in around 18 kWh per 100 km, which is reasonable for a vehicle of this size and weight. That suggests the claimed range figure isn't wildly optimistic, and you should get genuinely usable range between charges.
Practicality
This is where the M6 earns its keep. The 6-seat layout with captain chairs in the middle row strikes a great balance between passenger comfort and accessibility. It's clearly designed for families who regularly carry more than four people but don't want to step up to a full 7-seater.
The electric seat adjustment on the second row is a nice touch. It makes configuring the cabin quick and easy, whether you're optimizing for legroom in the back or maximizing cargo space.
Value for Money
In the electric MPV space, there aren't many competitors offering this combination of range, seating flexibility, and features. The captain seats, electric adjustment, and genuine long-distance capability make this a well-equipped package. If you're cross-shopping against other electric family cars, the M6 stacks up well on paper and in practice.
Final Verdict
The BYD M6 Extended Range is a pragmatic choice for families going electric. It delivers on its core promise of usable range and practical seating for six. The firm ride and lethargic Eco mode hold it back from being truly excellent, but Sport mode and the overall package make it a strong contender. If your priority is moving your family comfortably over long distances without range anxiety, the M6 deserves serious consideration.
Pros
- Genuine long-range capability for an electric family car
- Captain seats in the second row feel premium
- Third row actually fits adults
- Electric seat adjustment for second row
- Practical 6-seat configuration
Cons
- Suspension is too firm for a family car
- Eco mode feels unacceptably sluggish
- Third row eats into cargo space significantly
- Not particularly quick even in Sport mode
Verdict
“The BYD M6 is a sensible family EV that prioritizes practicality and range over driving thrills. If you need a 6-seater that can handle long trips without charging stress, this deserves a look.”
