I was genuinely surprised how well all three rows work for real passengers. It's a serious option for families wanting a pure EV people-mover.

Pros

  • Only pure-EV 6-seat MPV in this price bracket
  • All three rows genuinely usable for adults
  • Row 2 captain seats more comfortable than rivals
  • Fast 115kW DC charging and full ADAS suite (Extended only)
  • 530km rated range with two battery options

Cons

  • Infotainment screen glares badly in direct sunlight
  • Suspension is firm and fatiguing on long trips
  • Row 2 cooling uneven; no cup holder or row 3 USB ports
  • Wind and tyre noise noticeable at speed
  • Real-world consumption higher than rated; Eco mode feels dull

The BYD M6 is a solid family hauler that does exactly what it promises — six seats, decent range, and practical everyday usability. Nothing exciting, but nothing offensive either.

Driving Experience

Eco mode feels sluggish and Sport mode wakes it up a bit but don't expect anything thrilling. The suspension is on the firm side, which you'll notice on rougher roads.

Pros

  • Second-row captain seats are genuinely adult-sized
  • Electric seat adjustment on row two is a nice touch
  • 530km rated range is respectable for a family MPV
  • Two battery options give buyers flexibility
  • Third row is actually usable for adults

Cons

  • Eco mode is noticeably dull to drive
  • Firm suspension may fatigue on long trips
  • Third row eats into rear cargo space
  • Real-world consumption around 18kWh is higher than rated
  • Sport mode improvement is mild, not exciting

Value for Money

At 829,900 THB, you're getting a lot of practical family car for the money if seating capacity and range are your priorities. If you want something sportier or more premium-feeling, look elsewhere.

Verdict

This is a car built for families who need space, range, and reliability — not driving thrills. If you're hauling kids and luggage regularly, the M6 makes a strong case for itself.

The BYD M6 is a genuinely usable 6-seat electric MPV that surprised me with how well all three rows actually work for real passengers. It's not flashy or high-tech, but if the price lands where it should, it's a serious option for families who want a pure EV people-mover.

Driving Experience

The suspension runs firm rather than plush — don't expect a magic carpet ride, but it handles city driving confidently in Normal mode and the acceleration is smooth and linear rather than aggressive. At highway speeds the body starts to feel its size, and it's definitely not a car you want to push hard through corners.

Pros

  • Only pure-EV 6-seat MPV in this price bracket
  • All three rows are genuinely usable for adults
  • Captain's seats in row 2 are more comfortable than Stargazer or Expander
  • Row 3 AC vents are actually colder than row 2
  • Fast DC charging up to 115kW on Extended trim
  • Full ADAS suite on Extended: AEB front and rear, blind spot, adaptive cruise to stop
  • Panoramic glass roof on Extended trim
  • Hard physical shortcut buttons and manual AC vents — easy to use while driving

Cons

  • Infotainment screen glares badly in sunlight — hard to read even on full brightness
  • Instrument cluster is old-gen analog/TFT hybrid, not a full digital display
  • Row 2 has nowhere to put a hot drink — cup holder position is awkward
  • Row 2 AC only blows from side vents, not central — uneven cooling
  • No USB ports in row 3 — need a power bank
  • Sound insulation is mediocre — wind and tyre noise creep in at speed
  • Interior design feels dated — this platform has been out in China for a while
  • Tyre choice (GT Radial hard compound) adds to the firm, bouncy ride feel

Value for Money

At around 829,000–869,000 THB for the Dynamic and 900,000–919,000 THB for the Extended, this is genuinely competitive — you'd have to spend over 3 million on an Alphard to get a comparable 6-seat EV experience. Push it past 950,000 THB though and you're bumping into the BYD Sealion 6 at 939,000 THB, which offers more tech and a bigger body, making the M6 a hard sell at that price.

Verdict

If you need a pure-EV family hauler with real 6-seat usability and the price stays under 900,000 THB, the M6 earns its spot on your shortlist. If you prioritise high-tech interiors, premium ride comfort, or sporty handling, look elsewhere.
