The BYD M6 is a solid family EV with a practical 6-seat layout and genuine long-range capability. The ride is firm and Eco mode feels sluggish, but Sport mode livens things up enough for daily driving.

Driving Experience

The suspension is noticeably firm, which isn't ideal for a family hauler. Eco mode feels frustratingly sluggish, but switching to Sport gives it a decent kick without being overly aggressive.

Pros

  • Genuine long-range capability for an electric family car
  • Captain seats in the second row feel premium
  • Third row actually fits adults
  • Electric seat adjustment for second row
  • Practical 6-seat configuration

Cons

  • Suspension is too firm for a family car
  • Eco mode feels unacceptably sluggish
  • Third row eats into cargo space significantly
  • Not particularly quick even in Sport mode

Value for Money

You get a 6-seat electric MPV with captain seats and solid range, which is a compelling package in this segment. For families wanting to go electric without range anxiety, it checks most boxes.

Verdict

The BYD M6 is a sensible family EV that prioritizes practicality and range over driving thrills. If you need a 6-seater that can handle long trips without charging stress, this deserves a look.

The BYD M6 is a practical family EV that genuinely seats six people comfortably across three rows. It's not flashy or high-tech, but it does the family car job well with a firm but composed ride and smooth acceleration.

Driving Experience

The ride is firm and slightly stiff, largely due to the hard compound tyres, but the chassis feels planted and secure at normal speeds. Acceleration is smooth rather than punchy, and the steering works fine in Sport mode though it lacks the precision of the Atto 3. Above 140 km/h the tall body starts to feel unsettled, but for everyday driving it's perfectly adequate.

Pros

  • All three rows genuinely seat adults comfortably
  • Smooth and linear acceleration in all driving modes
  • 360-degree camera and full ADAS suite on top trim
  • Rear air vents with adjustable fan speed for rows 2 and 3
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Flat-folding third row creates massive cargo space
  • Real-world range around 450 km on the Extended trim
  • Fast DC charging at 115 kW on Extended trim

Cons

  • No cup holder or tray table for second-row passengers
  • Centre display washes out badly in sunlight
  • Cabin noise insulation is mediocre at speed
  • Dashboard and instrument cluster feel outdated
  • Ride is firm and bumpy over rough surfaces
  • Second-row air conditioning feels insufficient
  • No USB ports at all in the third row
  • Manual mirror adjustment feels cheap for this class

Value for Money

You get a full EV with three usable rows, captain seats, adaptive cruise control, and a panoramic roof on the top trim, which is a lot of kit for a sub-million segment car. Compared to the Xpander, Veloz, and Stargazer, the electric powertrain and standard ADAS give it a genuine edge in features and running costs.

Verdict

If you need a genuine six-seater EV for school runs and weekend trips, the M6 is the only game in town at this segment. Just know you're buying practicality over polish — it's functional, not fancy.
