The BYD Seal 6 is a surprisingly spacious electric sedan with a well-finished interior and solid tech, but some missing features like blind spot monitoring and lane keep assist on both trims feel like odd omissions for a Chinese EV.

First Impressions

Walking up to the BYD Seal 6 for the first time, I was genuinely surprised by its size. The dimensions are generous — this is a proper sedan that looks and feels bigger in person than photos suggest. With its Dragon Face design language shared with the Atto 3 and dynasty lineup, it has a distinctive front end that sets it apart from BYD's ocean-themed models.

The LED projector headlights with separated high and low beams look sharp, and on the top trim, the daytime running light bar stretches the full width of the front fascia. It immediately gives the car a more premium, connected look compared to the base model's shorter dragon whisker DRLs.

Design and Exterior

The exterior is clean and well-proportioned. I particularly like the 18-inch alloy wheels on the top trim — the sizing feels just right for the car's proportions. The flush door handles are a nice touch that helps with aerodynamics while remaining easy to use. No worry about finger-pinching here.

There's a black plastic cladding strip running from the front bumper along the sides to the rear, giving it a slightly rugged crossover-sedan vibe. Chrome window surrounds add a touch of elegance. One thing I noticed immediately — no side mirror auto-fold. For a car positioning itself as premium, that feels like an oversight.

Interior and Tech

Step inside and the Seal 6 genuinely impresses. The synthetic leather wrapping is soft and well-stitched throughout, with grey and blue contrast stitching that gives the cabin a modern EV feel. BYD's PVC leather work is consistently excellent — it feels premium to the touch, though I'd be careful with sharp fingernails as it could scratch easily.

The 12.8-inch rotating center screen is responsive and intuitive, with a solid 360-degree camera system featuring 3D transparent body view. The 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster is clear and informative. Dual-zone climate control with PM 2.5 filtration is standard on both trims, which is great. The top trim adds ambient lighting that runs from the dash through the doors to the rear — it genuinely elevates the atmosphere. Wireless charging is included on the top trim only.

One frustration: many ADAS settings are buried in the touchscreen. Most owners will set these once and forget them, but it's not the most convenient approach.

Rear Seat and Cargo

The rear seat is where the Seal 6 really shines. It's remarkably spacious — the reclined seatback angle is generous, and there's good distance between front and rear occupants. The seat even has an extended cushion for under-thigh support. However, I couldn't tuck my feet under the front seats, which is a minor annoyance.

Rear passengers get their own air vents with separate left-right controls, USB-C and USB-A ports with illuminated surrounds, and a fold-down armrest with cupholders. The trunk is sizeable too, though golf bags won't fit without folding the rear seats. A hidden compartment beneath the cargo floor offers extra concealed storage.

What's Missing

Here's where I have to voice my biggest disappointment. Neither trim gets blind spot monitoring or lane keep assist. For a modern Chinese EV that typically comes loaded with features, this is a puzzling omission. You do get adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning on both trims — plus 6 airbags. But the missing active lane centering and blind spot systems feel like a real gap in the safety package.

The base trim also loses the panoramic sunroof with electric shade, ambient lighting, and wireless charging. Color choices are limited to white and grey on the base, while the top trim adds green, cream, and black options.

Final Verdict

The BYD Seal 6 is a spacious, well-finished electric sedan that punches above its weight in interior quality and rear passenger comfort. The tech package is solid and the build quality continues BYD's strong track record with soft-touch materials.

But the missing blind spot monitoring and lane keep assist on both trims is hard to overlook. If those safety features matter to you, look elsewhere. If you prioritize cabin space, interior refinement, and a comfortable ride platform, the Seal 6 top trim is worth serious consideration — just go in with eyes open about what's not included.
