Happy for Customers!! Trying the GEELY EX5 Customer Delivery Version with New Suspension — Much Better, Smooth Ride, Family-Oriented
ดีใจแทนลูกค้า!!ลอง GEELY EX5 เวอร์ชั่นส่งมอบลูกค้าช่วงล่างใหม่ ดีขึ้นเยอะ ขับนุ่ม สายครอบครัว
The updated suspension on the Geely EX5 is a massive improvement over the pre-production unit I drove before. It's now a genuinely comfortable family SUV, though it's still not one for spirited driving.
First Impressions
I'd previously driven the Geely EX5 in its pre-production form and came away seriously concerned about the suspension. It was rattly, unsettled, and frankly not up to standard. So when Geely invited me back to try the updated customer-delivery version with completely revised suspension — new springs, new anti-roll bars, the works — I was genuinely curious whether they'd fixed it.
The short answer: yes, they absolutely have. The improvement is dramatic and immediate. Within the first few hundred metres on the same roads I'd tested before, the jarring, clunky feel was gone. I'm genuinely happy for the customers who'll receive this version.
Driving Experience
In Eco mode, which is where I'd recommend living, the EX5 is smooth, comfortable, and easy to manage. The motor delivers more than enough power for daily use, and the acceleration is silky. The steering is light and the flat-bottom wheel feels good in hand — perfect for city driving and highway cruising.
But push it and the cracks appear. Over bridge joints at speed, the rear still bobs and floats. Throw it into corners and the back end sways noticeably. In Sport mode the motor delivers a serious shove, but the soft suspension simply can't keep up — the car wallows and slides around in a way that could catch inexperienced drivers off guard. This is emphatically not a sporty SUV. Keep it in Eco, drive smoothly, and it rewards you with a pleasant, relaxed experience.
Interior and Tech
The cabin is well-equipped for a family SUV. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now fully functional from delivery, along with the CBit Link app that lets you mirror your phone to the big screen for YouTube and Netflix when parked. The voice assistant is surprisingly capable — it can differentiate between left and right passengers and respond accordingly, adjusting temperature or opening specific windows on command.
Massage seats on both front positions are a lovely touch, and the ventilated function is welcome in our climate. The head-up display is comprehensive and the infotainment system offers plenty of customisation. The Harman sound system is decent, with multiple EQ presets to play with.
Driver Assistance
The ICC (Intelligent Cruise Control) system genuinely impressed me. One button press and it handles adaptive cruise, lane centering, and steering input through curves. The camera recognition is accurate and the lane-keeping is smooth rather than jerky. I'd trust it on the highway for extended stints, though obviously you must stay attentive.
You can also toggle individual features like lane-keep assist and various warnings on or off. I personally prefer turning off the more intrusive alerts for everyday driving, but having the full suite available for long trips is a real benefit.
Suspension — The Big Story
This is why I came back, and it's the headline: Geely listened to feedback and completely reworked the suspension with new springs and anti-roll bars. The result transforms the car from something I couldn't recommend to something I can. The unsettled, rattly quality is gone. Normal road surfaces are dispatched with composure and comfort.
It's still not sporty — the rear lifts over crests and the body rolls through direction changes. But that's the character they've chosen. For a family cruiser, it now works. It's competitive with rivals in this segment and no longer a weak point. If I'm honest, some competitors still feel a touch tighter, but the gap has closed enormously.
Final Verdict
The Geely EX5 in customer-delivery spec is a significantly better car than the pre-production unit I tested. The suspension fix alone changes the entire proposition. Add in the generous tech, capable driver assists, and spacious family-friendly cabin, and it earns its place on any shortlist.
Just know what you're buying. This is a relaxed, comfortable cruiser — not a canyon carver. Drive it in Eco, enjoy the massage seats, let the ICC handle highway duties, and you'll love it. I'd strongly encourage anyone interested to book a test drive and feel the difference for themselves.
