First Impressions

Walking up to the Zeekr 009 Grand at MOT Expo 2025, it looks familiar if you already know the standard 009. Same imposing MPV silhouette, same confident stance. But get closer and the differences start whispering at you: the hand-polished, black-finished metal grille, the gorgeous alloy wheels with non-rotating centre caps that keep the Zeekr logo upright at all times. This is a car that sweats the details before you even touch the door handle.

Design and Exterior

The exterior upgrades are restrained but meaningful. That darkened metal grille catches light in a way painted plastic never could. The 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport EV rubber look properly premium, and the privacy glass on the rear doors and tailgate is incredibly dark. I tried peering through from outside and genuinely could not see a thing unless I pressed my face against it. From inside looking out, though, visibility is perfectly fine. It sends a clear message: whoever is back there does not want to be seen.

Interior and Rear Cabin

This is where the 009 Grand earns its name. Open the rear sliding door and the first thing your feet meet is genuine wool carpet. There are only two rear seats, both wrapped in Nappa leather, and the cabin feels less like a car and more like a private jet suite. Between the partition and the rear seats sits a smart TV screen, and below it an 18-litre upright refrigerator sized specifically for wine and champagne bottles.

The partition itself is a dual-layer laminated glass panel that can lower electrically so you can speak to the driver, or stay up for total isolation. A camera streams the forward view to a rear display since you literally cannot see through the partition otherwise. Every surface I touched was soft, and real Himalayan stone slabs decorate the door panels and centre console. Because each piece is cut from natural stone, no two cars will have identical patterns. The aluminium fold-out tables on each armrest feel aircraft-grade solid, and there are lockable drawers, wireless chargers, crystal control knobs, and even a hidden mirror with lighting. It is obsessively detailed.

Seat Comfort

The rear seats offer 24-way electric adjustment, memory positions, heating, cooling, and massage. Hit the Zero Gravity button and the seat reclines fully while an extendable leg rest slides out and adjusts to cradle your heels so they never dangle. An adjustable headrest pillow with built-in speakers rounds out the experience. Honestly, I sat there thinking it was more comfortable than my own car, and I was not joking.

Technology and Privacy

The 800-volt battery architecture supports seriously fast charging, which is a welcome addition for a vehicle this size. The panoramic glass roof comes with an electric sunshade controllable from the rear touchscreen. There is also a remote control for the entertainment system, stored neatly in a custom slot. Every window is double-glazed for sound isolation. The driver can open or close the rear sliding doors from up front, adding another layer of convenience for chauffeur-driven use.

Value for Money

Competitors offering this level of rear-cabin luxury in an electric MPV are rare, and those that exist typically demand a much steeper entry fee. The 009 Grand packs real stone, wool carpeting, a champagne fridge, and Zero Gravity seats into a package that feels genuinely exclusive without crossing into absurd territory. If rear-seat opulence matters to you, there is very little else in the segment that comes close on equipment alone.

Final Verdict

The Zeekr 009 Grand is not for everyone. It sacrifices third-row seating and rear visibility for an uncompromising two-seat luxury lounge. If you are the kind of person who is driven rather than driving, and you value privacy and comfort above all else, this is the electric MPV to wait for in 2026. I came in curious and left genuinely impressed by how far Zeekr has pushed the concept of a luxury people mover.
