First Impressions

Walking up to the 2026 Zeekr X, the first thing I noticed is that it still looks compact and manageable — not trying to be bigger than it is. But then you hit the button and those electric front doors swing open, and suddenly this little crossover feels like it punches way above its weight class. Both trims get the electric doors, which is almost unheard of at this level. It immediately sets the tone: this car wants to impress you.

Design & Exterior

The exterior design is largely familiar if you know the outgoing Zeekr X. The dual-strip daytime running lights, sculpted hood lines, and that distinctive short-tail rear end are all present. The Flagship AWD rides on 245/45 R20 wheels with four-wheel disc brakes, and the body-colored cladding gives it a cleaner look than many crossovers in this segment.

The functional air channels that route from the front bumper through to the wheel arches are a nice aerodynamic touch. Around back, the swooping C-pillar and integrated spoiler give it a sporty silhouette. It's a good-looking car that manages to stand out without being obnoxious.

Interior & Tech

Step inside and the new interior color scheme immediately catches your eye — it looks genuinely premium. The materials on the seats and door panels have been upgraded, and the front seats now include a massage function. That alone elevates the cabin experience significantly.

The steering wheel now features a touch bar that controls functions like the 360-degree camera, rear defogger, and tailgate. The Yamaha sound system delivers impressive clarity and brightness. There's wireless charging at 50 watts, a pair of cupholders, and a decent-sized center storage box. The infotainment screen handles everything adequately, though I'll be honest — it's not the slickest or most fluid display I've used. It gets the job done without wowing you.

Ambient lighting sits along the lower dash area, and the charging status display on the B-pillar is a practical touch that lets you check battery level without opening the car.

Rear Seat & Practicality

Here's where the Zeekr X genuinely surprised me. I'm 172 cm tall and I sat comfortably in the back seat — something I absolutely cannot say about the Volvo EX30, which shares the same platform. The EX30 felt cramped and claustrophobic by comparison. The Zeekr X gives you a proper armrest, ISOFIX points, Yamaha speakers in the rear doors, and a panoramic glass roof overhead.

The rear doors are still manual — only the fronts get the electric treatment — but the latch mechanism works fine. Cargo space is modest given the compact footprint, but there are hooks and a well-organized boot area.

Powertrain & Charging

The Flagship AWD packs dual motors producing 489 horsepower and 573 Nm of torque, launching to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. That's properly fast for a compact crossover. The 66 kWh NMC battery supports DC fast charging up to 150 kW, which gets you from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 30 minutes. AC charging has been doubled to 22 kW, making overnight home charging much quicker.

Even the standard rear-wheel-drive variant got a bump to 335 horsepower, so neither version feels shortchanged on performance.

Value for Money

What impresses me most is how much you get as standard equipment across both trims. Electric front doors, massage seats, 360-degree cameras, a Yamaha audio system, full driver-assistance suite — these are features you'd normally associate with much larger, more expensive vehicles. The Zeekr X delivers a genuinely premium experience in a compact, city-friendly package. Against competitors like the Volvo EX30, it offers more comfort, more features, and more rear seat space.

Final Verdict

The 2026 Zeekr X feels like Zeekr listened to every criticism of the original and addressed them all at once — more power, better charging, nicer interior, and those show-stopping electric doors. It's the kind of car that makes you do a double take because the spec sheet reads like something from a segment above.

If you want a compact EV that doesn't compromise on performance, tech, or everyday livability, the Zeekr X should be right at the top of your shortlist. It's one of the most complete small EVs I've encountered.
