The suspension is firm and well-controlled without being punishing, and 500+ hp already had me pinned to the seat. For the money, this packs serious car.

I drove the top-spec AWD Performance for a full day and came away genuinely impressed — the suspension is firm and well-controlled without being punishing, and 500+ hp in Eco mode already had me pinned to the seat. For the money, this thing packs a serious amount of car.

Driving Experience

The chassis feels tight and composed — firmer than the XPENG G6 and Deepal S07, but nowhere near as harsh as an unmodified imported Tesla Model Y. Even in Eco mode the acceleration is absurdly strong; flip it to Sport and you're at 100 km/h before you know what happened.

Pros

  • Suspension is firm yet controlled, rebounds in 2 steps max
  • Over 500hp feels effortless even in Eco mode
  • Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires standard on top trim
  • Sound deadening noticeably better than my own Tesla Model Y
  • Din Audio system scored a 9/10 — no need to upgrade
  • 50L front trunk plus 500L boot with VTL included
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto out of the box
  • Panoramic roof comes with an electric sunshade unlike BYD Seal

Cons

  • Steering feel is lighter than Tesla Model Y even in Sport mode
  • Rear seats have ventilation holes but no actual cooling function
  • No heated seats or massage function
  • No built-in dashcam module despite having the mount
  • Premium RWD trim uses Continental Eco Contact tires — ride feel will differ significantly
  • Can't fold rear seats from the boot area like some rivals
  • ICC lane assist nags you to touch the wheel fairly quickly
  • Only had 1 day with the car so long-range efficiency not fully tested

Value for Money

At under 1.4 million baht for the AWD Performance, you're getting 4WD, 500+ hp, good tires, VTL, wireless CarPlay, and a genuinely capable chassis — that's a strong package against the Model Y and XPENG G6 at similar money. If this were a European car with these specs the price would be double, so the value argument is real.

Verdict

If you want a fast, well-rounded electric SUV in this segment and the sporty-firm ride character suits you, the Sealion 7 AWD Performance is my top pick right now. Skip it if you prioritize a plush, floaty ride or want class-leading driver assists.

AWD Performance

The Sealion 7 is a well-equipped, comfortable family SUV with brutal straight-line performance, but don't let those sporty looks fool you — the suspension and brakes aren't tuned to match the power. It's a great daily driver and long-haul cruiser, just not a sports car.

Driving Experience

Acceleration is savage and smooth, but above 110–120 km/h the car floats and the brakes feel too soft and distant for a machine with this much power. The suspension is tuned for comfort, not handling — it leans and wanders in corners rather than digging in.

Pros

  • Massive interior space front and rear
  • Rear seats recline and offer great legroom
  • Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires fitted as standard
  • Full ADAS suite including adaptive cruise with stop-and-go
  • Cornering lights that illuminate when turning
  • 360-degree cameras are sharp and useful
  • 50W wireless charging included
  • Panoramic glass roof is huge at 2.1 sq meters
  • 500+ km real-world range is genuinely usable
  • Welcome seat and auto engine-off on exit are slick touches

Cons

  • Brakes feel too soft and mushy for the power output
  • Floaty and unsettled at very high speeds
  • Steering lacks sharpness even in Sport mode
  • Center console layout causes cup holders to block gear controls
  • Wireless charger is on the wrong side for RHD driving
  • Rear seat position sits too low, feels sunken
  • No rear sunshades despite the high price
  • Wind noise intrudes noticeably above 110 km/h
  • Regen braking only has 2 levels, not 3
  • Rear visibility through the sloping rear glass is very limited

Value for Money

At around 1.25 million baht you're getting a lot of car — great range, strong performance, solid tech and a genuinely comfortable cabin. But competitors like the Xpeng G6 push harder on technology, and the BYD Seal Lion 6 undercuts it significantly, so the value case depends heavily on final pricing.

Verdict

Buy this if you want a spacious, long-range EV for family use or comfortable highway cruising — it does those things very well. Skip it if you're expecting sports car dynamics to match the performance numbers, because the chassis simply isn't set up for that.

The Sealion 7 Premium is genuinely impressive value for its size — spacious, well-equipped, and decently quick. But it drives more like a comfortable cruiser than the sporty coupe its looks promise, and there are some software quirks worth knowing about before you commit.

Driving Experience

It's a comfortable long-distance cruiser with smooth, predictable power delivery — but the throttle has a slight initial deadzone before it picks up, and the suspension prioritizes ride comfort over handling composure at high speeds. The steering returns slowly at the end of its travel, and body roll during quick lane changes is noticeable enough to remind you this isn't a sports car.

Pros

  • Interior space is genuinely huge — I fit comfortably at 180cm front and rear
  • Value for money is hard to argue with at this price for this size
  • Multiple unlock methods including NFC card and digital key
  • Tons of storage everywhere, all lined with soft material
  • Ventilated front seats and 8-way power adjustment
  • 9 airbags standard on both trims
  • 360-degree camera on base trim
  • Wireless charging at 50W with active cooling

Cons

  • Brake pedal feels vague in the first 30% of travel — needs deliberate input
  • No one-pedal driving mode
  • Suspension gets unsettled at high speed over bumps
  • Body roll is significant during aggressive lane changes
  • DMS driver monitoring resets every restart, can't be permanently disabled
  • Daytime running lights reportedly can't be turned off
  • Some UI menus are buried and inconsistently laid out
  • At 120km/h range drops to around 376km — heavier than expected

Value for Money

For the price, you're getting a car bigger than a Honda CR-V with luxury-car interior trimmings and a massive battery — that's a genuinely strong package. If you can live with the soft suspension character and software quirks, it undercuts most rivals in this size class.

Verdict

Buy this if you want a spacious, well-equipped family EV for daily driving and long trips — it's genuinely comfortable and the value is real. Skip it if you're expecting sporty handling to match the looks, or if you need one-pedal driving.
