Even with me driving and a tall passenger up front, a third tall person could comfortably fit in back. The legroom is genuinely abundant.

Cargo space is vast. With the rear seats folded, the floor is almost perfectly flat, giving you a truly usable space. The center console feels premium with wireless charging, deep storage, and cupholders that don't feel cheap. One note: the panoramic sunroof lacks a manual sunshade, only having tinted glass. On really bright days, you might want more control.

Driving Experience

The AWD powertrain delivers real punch. In Sport mode, acceleration feels genuinely quick—0 to 100km/h in under four seconds, and you feel that urgency with each pedal press. The heavy accelerator pedal is actually a strength here—it prevents you from accidentally overcooking things in tight traffic. Switch to Comfort mode and the car becomes civilized, though still responsive.

Handling is where this car surprised me. At highway speeds around 120km/h, it's remarkably composed and smooth. The suspension doesn't coddle you—there's firmness—but it's the right kind. Around city streets it feels safe and planted. Steering is weighted nicely too. You get three modes (light, medium, heavy) and honestly, I preferred medium for daily driving. The adaptive cruise control is intelligent; it changes lanes smoothly with turn signals and detects adjacent traffic reliably.

Braking is smooth and progressive. You can sense the regenerative system working without it feeling intrusive. One minor note: in Expand mode, the accelerator response is slightly delayed compared to other modes, which could feel odd if you're mixing driving styles regularly.

Charging and Range

The charging infrastructure here is where XPeng really stands out. This G6 accepts up to 451kW—the highest in its class at this price. Using the 800-volt architecture, it'll charge from 10 to 80 percent in a claimed 12 minutes if you have a compatible charger. The Long Range version claims 600km, while the AWD does 575km on the NEDC standard. That's plenty for most daily driving, and knowing the charging is genuinely fast takes real anxiety out of ownership.

The charging port is CCS Type 2 and the battery is a respectable 80.8kWh across both versions. The app lets you monitor and control charging remotely, set schedules, and see real-time status—all the expected features and they work smoothly.

What Could Be Better

The rear seat backrest reclines only into one fixed position rather than being smoothly adjustable. It's reclined at a decent angle, but it'd be nicer to have control. Also, the panoramic sunroof, while visually stunning, lacks a manual shade—you get tinted glass, which isn't the same on very bright days. One more thing: from the front passenger seat, reaching across to the large center display can be a stretch, especially if the driver's seat is pushed back. Not a deal-breaker, just worth knowing.

The dark styling is gorgeous but means it gets dirty easily. After one rainy drive, you'll want to wash it. Minor point, but worth mentioning if you care about maintenance.

The refreshed XPeng G6 AWD is a genuinely well-rounded package. It looks premium, feels spacious and comfortable, and the tech isn't just novelty—it actually improves ownership experience. Performance is legitimate, the charging speed is class-leading, and range is practical for real-world use.
